What are your published works, and what are you working on?
So far, I have self-published a steam punk Novella “The Cartographer’s Diary” On smashwords. Along with a few short stories and poems in online zines and zombie anthologies books.
Currently I am working on about 6 different projects, I have a dark urban fantasy novel, steeped in murder, Black metal & the occult. Along with that I have a Grimdark inspired dark fantasy story, with corrupt priests and gay dwarves…and zombies, obviously. The love of my life however is my approach to poetry, I am working on a collection of my poems in a book named “Draconian” Yes, there are indeed poems about the undead….that’s what I said… I promise my poems are nothing like that however. I am also planning to continue “The festival series” that is started in this very collection of stories! Watch this space!
If someone was just hearing about you for the first time what 1 thing would you want them to know?
I Would like them to think of my writing like punk! When the punk scene broke into the world in the 70s it was a response to the super polished and extremely complex music being produced by middle class well educated pretentious folk. Punk spat in the face of that, with two fingers in the air and a F*** Off attitude to boot! That’s what I want my writing to be, my style is whatever I want it to be, it does not conform and it is hopefully, truly original. Punk Rock Poets Unite!
Did you always want to be a writer?
All I wanted to be when I was young was one thing. An owl, then when I realised that was never going to happen, I wanted to be a professional musician, and a comic book writer. Then in high school, after reading a story I wrote in “creative writing studies” in front of the class, my teacher told me I would NEVER under ANY circumstances, become an author. That’s when I decided I would be a published author, to spite him if nothing else! Now I am two of the three, with aims to write comic books in my future!
What has been the biggest adventure of your life?
My life truly began when I decided that I did not want to be a missionary. I came back from a mission trip after opening my eyes one morning with clear vision and no longer a man of faith. When I returned to Ireland I met an amazing woman, who totally turned my life around and made me happier than anything, and especially any deity, ever could! Since we met we have travelled to the states several times and embarked on multi state road trips! Seen the geysers and bathed in the blue lagoon in Iceland, spent Christmas in Budapest and fully indulged our favourite pastime of eating till we almost explode, in Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Spain, hungry and many more! So my greatest adventure has been meeting & traveling with my Wife!
If zombie apocalypse were to happen tomorrow would you be prepared?
Honestly, can anyone really be prepared? I have a bug out bag for my wife and I, with melee weapons and survival gear….food however….hmm…lets face it, most likely going to end up eating people any way…that’s how these stories always end!
What 3 things do you feel everyone should have to be ready for a survival situation?
I honestly think that location is a big player in chances of survival. In my opinion those in crowded cities are pretty much screwed. Those of us lucky enough to live in Ireland, well we are ok. No, only joking, those close to water, farmland and rural high ground have the best chances. TO answer the question however, three ITEMS that you would need would be as follows:
- Weapons, either firearms (or those of us not in the U.S,) melee weapons with long range, like polearms, preferably a spear type weapon, or bows & Arrows.
- A copy of any book written by any of the Reanimated writers community!
Who would you want with you if civilized society fell apart?
That’s an easy one..my Dog! No I’m kidding, My wife.
What 2 books would be in your bug out bag, knowing you would have to read them over and over?
Lord of the rings – J.R.R Tolkien This is long enough and varied enough to keep anyone occupied for quite a while, there is also something new to discover each time I read it!
Ready Player One – Ernest Cline. If I cannot play video games, due to the lack of electricity, then reading this book is the next best thing!
If we were thrown into the dark ages what would you miss most?
I wish I could say, human interaction, community and everyday life. But the sad truth is, I would miss the internet and fried food.
What is the most surprising fact about you?
I was born in west Philadelphia, born and raised, in the playground I swear I spent most of my days, chilling out relaxing and playing …no not really.
I am ¼ of the band Plague Artists. An alternative grunge/rock band from Belfast, N.Ireland. Check us out on YouTube, Spotify and all available music outlets. Please share with your friends! That’s pretty interesting, right?
