If someone was just hearing about you for the first time what 1 thing would you want them to know?
I write horror novels with a twisted sense of humor. Imagine your favorite horror writer writing for Family Guy.
Did you always want to be a writer?
I began writing when I was five years old. I stopped writing in the nineties after several rejections to pursue a career in comedy. After my brother, Mark Cusco Ailes, published his first novel, I began writing again.
What has been the biggest adventure of your life?
Driving down the highway in Iowa when a tornado dropped down behind my van. Like a crazy man filled with adrenaline, I floored it and outran it. With my obsession with severe weather, I wrote three tornado related horror stories: Zombienado, Catfurnado, Catfurnado: Oh Meow No!
If zombie apocalypse were to happen tomorrow would you be prepared?
It will always be a 50/50 chance if you can survive, but a zombie writer has the ingenuity to survive longer than most people.
What 3 things do you feel everyone should have to be ready for a survival situation?
Weapons, food, and a friend as crazy as Negan.
Who would you want with you if civilized society fell apart?
Scarlett Johansson. Just kidding…or am I? Really, I would want a tough guy with nothing to lose. I am Negan! Everybody associated with Rick Grimes eventually dies.
What 2 books would be in your bug out bag, knowing you would have to read them over and over?
The Neverending Story by Michael Ende because it would never end. The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy: Five Novels and One Story by Douglas Adams because I could never get tired of reading it over and over and over again.
If we were thrown into the dark ages what would you miss most?
A laptop and medicine; an endless supply of medicine.
What is the most surprising fact about you?
Even though I’m known as a horror writer, I began my writing career writing a science fiction series similar to Star Wars.
