What are your published works, and what are you working on?
My 30th publication was released today (January 31st). I write in a variety of genres, mostly Science Fiction and Fantasy. My zombie books are actually just as much Science Fiction and Genetic Engineering as they are Zombie Fiction. Last week, the DARK LEGENDS Boxed Set (Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy) which includes my YA Paranormal Mystery/YA Urban Fantasy novel, SHADE, made the USA Today Bestseller List, so I’m currently having USA Today Bestselling Author added to my book covers and banners. In the meantime, I’ve been accepted into another boxed set that will be aiming for the New York Times Bestseller List. For that one, I’m working on a brand new Dark Fantasy novel, BLOOD AND ASHES. The first chapter and book cover are currently available on Wattpad:
If someone was just hearing about you for the first time what 1 thing would you want them to know?
That I have trouble narrowing down answers to one thing. I do love writing, but I’m assuming you already guessed that.
Did you always want to be a writer?
I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was a very young child. In high school, I wrote for several local newspapers as well as my high school newspaper. I published my first novel in 2003 and have been publishing novels and short stories ever since.
What has been the biggest adventure of your life?
Having children and seeing them grow up to become wonderful people. Also, traveling to Ireland, meeting family members who live there for the very first time, and seeing lots of castles and other ruins.
If zombie apocalypse were to happen tomorrow would you be prepared?
Well, semi-prepared. I’m a news junkie who loves following as many news sources as possible. So I’m sure I’d see the beginning of a zombie apocalypse as it developed…but then, yikes, I’d have to figure out what to do next!
What 3 things do you feel everyone should have to be ready for a survival situation?
Curiosity and problem-solving abilities. Water. Food.
Who would you want with you if civilized society fell apart?
My family. Rational people with problem-solving abilities.
What 2 books would be in your bug out bag, knowing you would have to read them over and over?
A fantasy novel for escape (a nice, big fat one with lots of pages to read). An apocalyptic book with heroes who survived.
If we were thrown into the dark ages what would you miss most?
Coffee, wine, chocolate, peace and recreation – although not in that order.
What is the most surprising fact about you?
Probably how little sleep I get when I have a writing deadline.
